In the year 1999, Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana come in existence with aimed at encouraging talented and motivated students of the science stream to pursue a career in research. The KVPY Exam had 3 Streams SA (Class 11), SX (Class 12), and SB (First year BSc) and students who are qualified in the KVPY Exam were eligible for a fellowship as well as admissions into institutes like the IISc and the IISER based on additional criteria.
KVPY is an annual scholarship program which started by the government of India to increase the trend towards education by giving scholarships to all those students who are doing innovative work in the education sector. To get benefit of this scheme the Indian Institute of Sciences (IISc) conducted KVPY to identify and ensure the growth of the best scientific minds for research and development in India and selected highly motivated and exceptionally talented students with unprecedented thought processes and capabilities.
Only eligible students can receive fellowship from 1st year onwards of their graduation (science field) who qualifies KVPY Exam. The KVPY fellows receive monthly fellowship from 1st to 3rd year of B.Sc/ B.Stat/ B.S./ B.Maths/ Integrated M.S./M.Sc and an annual contingency grant however during M.Sc/4th and 5th year of Integrated M.S./M.Sc fellowship is enhanced with and an annual contingency grant and also eligible to get the DST Inspire Scholarship.
KVPY Aptitude test 2022 Notice – KVPY Fellowship New Update
At present, from the year 2022 onwards KVPY Aptitude test will not be conducted and KVPY website announced the decision of DST to subsume KVPY with INSPIRE on 18 July 2022 according to the Department of Science and Technology (DST). From the year 2022 onwards, Ongoing KVPY fellows will continue to receive fellowship as per norms from DST and KVPY Aptitude Test will be discontinued now.
